IB Career-Related programme at OSAO
Oulun seudun ammattiopisto, run by OSEKK is a candidate school* for the Career- related Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Oulun seudun ammattiopisto, run by OSEKK believes is important for our students.
*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Career- related Programme or the Career-related Programme (CP). Structure of IBCP studies
OSAO offers IB Career-related programmeas a part of Vocational Qualification in Business and Administration.
IBDP English B, IBDP business and management and IBCP core studies are included in the vocational qualification. The scope of studies is the same as in all vocational qualifications, 180 credits.
Teaching and Learning
Teaching and learning in IBCP studies at OSAO, is based around the theories of David Kolb.
Kolb's learning cycle:
- Concrete Experience: Learning by experiencing
- Reflective Observation: Learning by processing
- Abstract Conceptualization: Learning by generalizing
- Active Experimentation: Learning by doing
In each stage of the cycle, a specific type of learning occurs: experiencing, reflecting, thinking, or
doing. This theory is interpreted and applied in the module of study shown below.

Who can apply and how to apply
This program is for those who have completed basic education (approximately nine years) with a good command in the English language.
Applications are to be submitted directly to www.osao.fi. All applicants will be invited to participate in an entrance examination on 11 May 2017. The entrance examination measures oral and written English language skills.
